Put a Bow on It!

Not sure if I have every shared that "Put a Bow on It!" was what I originally planned to name my bow business, but when I searched Facebook in order to create my page, I realized that there were several versions of that already in use.  Thus, I came up with "Let's Hear It for the Bows!"  I do tend to get a lot of encouraging compliments on my name, though, so I think it turned out the way it was supposed to.  

Today, I have a few recent special order bows to share with you.  These all start with 1.5" gross grain ribbon as the base.  It is my favorite, and in my opinion the easiest to work with.  It allows me to make several different sizes of bows, which is best since not everyone likes the huge bows Amelia tends to wear.

I love using buttons as a way to fancy up the centers of my bows.  Gives it just a little something else.  Another thing I found today, was a multi-crafting blog that is having a challenge requiring the use of buttons.  Not sure, if hair bows are exactly what they had in mind, but I thought I would give it a shot anyway.  The blog is Ruby's Rainbow and it is challenge #65.

A Little Different

So, during Amelia's field trip this past Friday, I was asked once again where I buy or if I make Amelia's hair bows.  Let me tell you, finding a hair bow store here in Florida has not been easy.  There is no Pretty Little Princess Shop here like I had in Evansville.  Thus, I decided it was time to finally figure out how to make hair bows.  Amelia has had the same supply for awhile now.  It is time for some new options, and one of the mothers from her class told me she would be my first customer if I figured it out.  So, here is the very rough first attempt.

  

It is not on a clip and does not have a center knot, yet.  I need to do some research into figuring out what works best when it comes to starching the bows to make them more fluffy.  Any ideas welcome.
