A gift for the teacher

Hello Friends!!
I know it has been about a week since you have heard anything from me, but school has been crazy.  In one week, we had Picture Day and Walk-a-thon, which both required additional prep time and/or follow up time.  Now the focus is Book Fair, and I have a few projects to make for that, so I may just be sharing those with you.

Today, I am sharing a gift I made for a special teacher.

This was a gift for my son's AWESOME kindergarten teacher.  She refers to her class as the "Brainy Bunch".  I was determined to use rulers for something "different", and this is what I came up with.  I hot glued popsicle sticks to the under side to hold all eight rulers together.  I then weaved some red and white gingham ribbon through the holes (that are already drilled into the rulers although I have no idea why) and added a blue ribbon in the center hole for use of hanging the board.  Our school colors are red, white and blue (if you couldn't guess).  I used a few different cartridges for this project.  They were Doodlecharms, Locker Talk, and the font from Robotz.  I am going to enter this sign in a challenge over at Paper Playtime.  Challenge #19 this week is to use apples.  It is a good fit, I think!

Where Have I Been?

Morning All!

Let me just start by saying in 10 days, I will be getting on a huge floating mini-city (or so it feels like)!  I can't wait!  A vacation were I only have to be responsible for me.  Well, I guess I will be responsible for Sean at times, too, as that is kind of what being a wife is about.

Well, of course, I am extremely busy getting ready for the trip, and since I am still a mom at the moment, all the craft time has been directed towards completing 12 of these

They are actually altered Crystal Light Containers, and I made enough for all of Amelia's teachers and the two school secretaries because they do so much but not everyone thinks of them.  Plus, I have decided I would much prefer my child been known to those around the school as the "Sweet Bow Girl" than because she gets into trouble.  For those of you who don't know, Amelia wears a huge hair bow just about everyday to school.  It is actually very good thing to be known as because it makes it real easy on the teachers, bus driver, or anyone else to spot whether or not she may be missing.  Thus, bows are part of her everyday attire.

Anyway, the purse tag/card on the front includes a little poem I wrote.  It says
Purse-nally Thanking You!
You are an essential part of my education,
and I appreciate all you do!
Here are some purse essentials
just for you!
Not anything fancy, but the best I could come up with.  When I came up with the idea of altering the containers, I was sure I could find a poem or such that I liked, but I just didn't.  Not one that would work for all the different teachers, media center specialist, and administrative ladies, anyway.  Yes, lucky for me, all of the people on my list were women.  I wanted to do something besides just filling the containers with candy; thus that is what the finish project turned out to be.  Inside each container is important purse items:  pen/pencil, hanatizer (that is what we call hand sanitizer in my house), spf chapstick, gum, mints, and some chocolate, of course.  Also, the containers for the two ladies in the office, the teacher who hosts the two after school clubs Amelia attends, her classroom Para, and her actual Kindergarten teacher include gift cards.

Believe it or not -- there are actually two challenges this week that I can enter these into.

Sentimental Sundays Challenge #57 - Anything but a Card!

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge #62 - Remember This

Thanks so much for visiting again!

My Baby Girl's Birthday Card

Remember when birthdays were still exciting and something you looked forward to?  My daughter had been counting down to her birthday for weeks, and even though it was actually yesterday, the fun is not done yet.  Grandpa surprised her with a visit last night, so we hung out at home.  We had pizza and cupcakes.  Of course, we opened presents and played.  That was after a field trip at school yesterday.  They ended their field trip up with a picnic at our city park where I meet them with Tangled Cupcakes.  Overall, I think it was a good day, and I think she went to bed happy.  Tonight she has a friend spending the night and we are going to Chuck E Cheese.  Ending the Birthday Celebration with a day at Blizzard Beach Water Park.  Good thing Sunday is Mother's Day because I am going to need a day to relax!

Here is the card I made for her birthday.  I kept putting off making the card because I knew I was going to cut out a Silvermist from my Tinker Bell and Friends Cricut Cartridge, and I needed a new blade to get it done correctly, and that just never happened.  Thus the card did not turn out as intended at all.
I also got to use my Storybook Cricut Cartridge.  The stamping is actually the sentiment on the inside.   Since I have the Birthday Card, I thought I would enter it into a challenges.

A Cricut Card

I just realized this morning I have not posted any cards made using my Cricut yet.  That's just not right, so here is one...
This is one of my favorite anniversary cards that I have made for Sean.  It is from several years ago.  I made it for the anniversary right after he accepted his job with Disney.  I used several cartridges: George and Basic, Mickey Font, and Everyday Paper Dolls.  Of course, I used my Peachy Keen stamps for the face because anything else would just be wrong :-)
It's cute! Don't you think?
