Birthday 2 of 3

Okay, this is birthday card 2 of 3.  The plan is for this card to go to the birthday girl this weekend.  Although, both kids were just invited to another birthday today that will be held Saturday.  That party is for a little boy, so this card may work.  Must decide!?!?

I honestly cannot even say where this digistamp came from, but I can say I have used it several times.  It is such a great "generic" birthday wish.  I colored it this time with my Bic Permanent Markers.  I have had a ton of baker's twine (I think that is what it is called) for a long time, but have never used it.  Good news -- I used all scraps yet again!  Another point, this card is perfect for the monthly challenge over at Just Inspirational Challenges.  This is the new monthly "Animal with Sentiment" challenge.

Birthday 1 of 3

There are currently two birthday party invitations hanging on our refrigerators addressed to Amelia.  The catch is that the birthday party on the 28th is for a set of twins.  This is the first time Amelia will be attending a party as a friend of each sister.  Not going to lie, makes preparing for the party and bit interesting.  Do you get each girl the same thing, but just slightly different in looks perhaps?  Or, do you get them each totally separate/not even similar gifts?  I think we have decided on similar gifts, and more posting about that will come later.
Right now, the card for sister #1.

I got this cute birthday cake digistamp for Blackberry Jelly.  I used my Bic Permanent Markers to color it, and a white roller ball pen to add the "extra" markings.  It is slightly difficult to see, but I added some pink Stickles in the middle of the lower heart.  I used a good ol' fashion round, circle punch with a piece from my scrap stash to make the background circle.  I also used my Tag Marker punch from Stampin' Up  to create the tag that I put a Happy Birthday rub-on on.  Again, this card is made using scraps.  I feel so accomplished when I can use all scraps!

I am using the card for these to challenges:

A Birthday Card Again

Today's card was super fun to make.  I was watching a special on the Royal Wedding while I was doing it.  I really could careless about the wedding, so perhaps the decision to get finished with the card in order to leave the table was the inspiration to more quickly to complete it.  I was originally sitting at my scrap table watching Dances with the Stars and planning to watch Castle, but apparently, the network had other plans.  Of course, that is not what this is about, so back to the card.
I used a digistamp from Miss Muffet Stamps, which I colored using some Bic Permanent Markers.  I was really surprised how easy they were to use and how well they worked.  I had only used them for my Disney Signature Books up to this point, but I may need to rethink that and invest in a larger package.  Something to think about :-)

The orange base is Bazzill and opens different than I normally make them.  It was a piece of scrap I found in the orange draw (again, I really need to post pictures of my scrap room, so you will understand).  The measurements were perfect; it was just the wrong directions.  Thus, it now opens on the short end.  I mounted the digi on a piece of Birthday paper from the 4.5x6.5 DCWV Summer Matstack, which I have had since I started making cards years and years ago.  It is perfect for card making and the matstacks are pretty reasonable when on sale.  I used some Cats Eye Ink, a few rhinestones (because I have sooooo much of those, you will probably be seeing them for years), and Stickles.  Side note, I bought a bottle of Michael's store brand "Stickles" from their dollar bin yesterday.  I have not tried them yet, but does anyone know if they are any good?  I figured for a dollar it was worth a try, right?

I am entering this card into challenges at
Little Miss Muffet Challenges  -  Challenge #7 - Glitter and Shine
A Spoonfull of Sugar  - Challenge 148 - Lets Celebrate!!

I hope they and you like it.  Thanks for looking!

One of My First Digistamp Cards

Today's card is one that I made back in February.  It is a birthday card for my sister-in-law.  I was actually pretty stressed about it because my sister-in-law is incredibly crafty, and it was my first attempt at printing and using a digistamp in any kind of project.
The stamp came from Melon Headz.  You really should go check out her blog here.  The card base was a piece of Bazzill, which I am beginning to really enjoy using for cards.  There are so many textures, and I think it adds something special to the cards.  The white scrap is actually a piece of scrap glitter paper that I used on Amelia's 6th birthday party invitations.  I will have to do a post about the invitations because that is one of my favorite projects.  The patterned paper is a scrap from Creative Memories.  I colored the stamp with my dollar store pencils and pop dotted it.  The birthday ribbon is from Hobby Lobby, which is a store I really miss.  Not that I even shopped there a ton, but there always seemed to be such different items there compared to the big two store.  Their prices were always so reasonable when things were on sale, too.  Guess, I will have to make a stop there while in Evansville :-)

Another little note - Of course, I forgot to mail the card in time to my sister-in-law on time, anyway.  At least, it did make it there, but I am pretty sure I forgot another important birthday, too.  I hate that!

Crayons!!!

Okay, today's card has me pretty excited!  It is another birthday card using a very cute puppy dog digi I got from the Operation Write Home blog, which is an incredibly awesome blog striving to help our military men and women stay in touch with loved ones.  You can check out the digi and the blog here and check out my card below.

I decided to use craft colored card stock as the base, which then lent itself to the colors used on the dog.  Are you wondering why I am so excited about the card?  Well, the coloring, of course!!  Here is a closer picture of my coloring -- get a better look...
I used my Crayola Crayons and blended the colors with Goo Gone and a Q-Tip.  I have been doing some searching and have found some other techniques and supplies that I need to try.  When I figure out what medium works best for blending crayons, I will let you know.  However, as of right now, I am pretty excited about the way the Crayons, Q-Tips, and Goo Gone work together.

The rest of the card was all scraps with a very short piece of paw print ribbon, which was a big pain to tie, and of course, some Stickles.  So what do we think, will my best friend's daughter like this card?

A Birthday Card

So, today's card is pretty exciting because I randomly came across a new to me coloring/blending technique.  I am sure it is not new and many out there know about it.  However, it makes me so happy because it uses one of my still to this day absolute favorite things - Crayola Crayons!!!

My best friend's children both have birthdays coming up, so this card is going to her son.  I am "hopping" he likes it.
All the paper is from the scrap files once again.  I ran the card front through the Cuddlebug.  The word stamp is actually from SU Unfrogetable Set, and the frog was a freebie digistamp I got some where along the way.  For the life of me, I can't remember where, though.  I pop dotted him to give some height to his hop.  The white flower is actually a dollar store stemmed flower that I bought to mess around with.  I took the stems off and separated the layers.  I have been rather surprised with how well they have been working out.  To top it off, I added a Prima on top, and Stickles to the brad because Stickles always make it better.

I have another birthday card for you tomorrow and more information about what I am learning about the crayon coloring/blending technique.
Can't wait!!
