A gift for the teacher

Hello Friends!!
I know it has been about a week since you have heard anything from me, but school has been crazy.  In one week, we had Picture Day and Walk-a-thon, which both required additional prep time and/or follow up time.  Now the focus is Book Fair, and I have a few projects to make for that, so I may just be sharing those with you.

Today, I am sharing a gift I made for a special teacher.

This was a gift for my son's AWESOME kindergarten teacher.  She refers to her class as the "Brainy Bunch".  I was determined to use rulers for something "different", and this is what I came up with.  I hot glued popsicle sticks to the under side to hold all eight rulers together.  I then weaved some red and white gingham ribbon through the holes (that are already drilled into the rulers although I have no idea why) and added a blue ribbon in the center hole for use of hanging the board.  Our school colors are red, white and blue (if you couldn't guess).  I used a few different cartridges for this project.  They were Doodlecharms, Locker Talk, and the font from Robotz.  I am going to enter this sign in a challenge over at Paper Playtime.  Challenge #19 this week is to use apples.  It is a good fit, I think!

Duty Called!

Morning!
Did you get worried because it has been a few days since I'd posted?  Well, no fears!  I just had paying customers I had to attend to.  Well, that and I have been at school volunteering since Wednesday, so that kind of cuts down on the crafting time.

Anyway, back to the projects!  Word is getting out a bit about my flip flops, and I have had a few special orders recently that I had to make to get out to people.  So that is what I am sharing with you today...

These flip flops are made to match the colors of the local high school, and this is pair two of three current orders I have had for Bloodhound flip flops.  All in adult sizes, which I think is awesome!  Seriously, I live in Florida, so you will see people in flip flops all year long.  Why not be a little different?  Why should the little girls get all the fun stuff?  This is a creative way to show your school spirit in my opinion, of course!

I love making theme specific flip flops, but there is also something about the fun, anything goes stye, too.  I made this pair for Amelia's friend, which is the birthday party we are going to today.  I love giving out my flip flops and hair bows as gifts because you never have to worry that the child we get two of the same item, when it is something made from the heart!

And the last pair I will share with you today, is a special order pair from one of Amelia's favorite friends.  Unfortunately, the two don't get to see each other very often because of living so far away, but I love that when they do get back together it is like no time has past at all.  The pick up right where they left off!  It is too cute, and it makes my heart happy :)  Anyway, Makayla is in competitive gymnastics, and this pair matches her leotard.  I will be mailing them out to her today.

Birthday 2 of 3

Okay, this is birthday card 2 of 3.  The plan is for this card to go to the birthday girl this weekend.  Although, both kids were just invited to another birthday today that will be held Saturday.  That party is for a little boy, so this card may work.  Must decide!?!?

I honestly cannot even say where this digistamp came from, but I can say I have used it several times.  It is such a great "generic" birthday wish.  I colored it this time with my Bic Permanent Markers.  I have had a ton of baker's twine (I think that is what it is called) for a long time, but have never used it.  Good news -- I used all scraps yet again!  Another point, this card is perfect for the monthly challenge over at Just Inspirational Challenges.  This is the new monthly "Animal with Sentiment" challenge.

Birthday 1 of 3

There are currently two birthday party invitations hanging on our refrigerators addressed to Amelia.  The catch is that the birthday party on the 28th is for a set of twins.  This is the first time Amelia will be attending a party as a friend of each sister.  Not going to lie, makes preparing for the party and bit interesting.  Do you get each girl the same thing, but just slightly different in looks perhaps?  Or, do you get them each totally separate/not even similar gifts?  I think we have decided on similar gifts, and more posting about that will come later.
Right now, the card for sister #1.

I got this cute birthday cake digistamp for Blackberry Jelly.  I used my Bic Permanent Markers to color it, and a white roller ball pen to add the "extra" markings.  It is slightly difficult to see, but I added some pink Stickles in the middle of the lower heart.  I used a good ol' fashion round, circle punch with a piece from my scrap stash to make the background circle.  I also used my Tag Marker punch from Stampin' Up  to create the tag that I put a Happy Birthday rub-on on.  Again, this card is made using scraps.  I feel so accomplished when I can use all scraps!

I am using the card for these to challenges:
MelonHeadz Friends - Tag It Challenge
Just Inspirational Challenges -  Die Cut/Punched Shape Challenge

What the crock?

Don't cha love it?

I got this funny digistamp and tag line from Whimsie Doodles, and since I have such a love/hate relationship with my crock pot, it seemed appropriate.  The best part is now when I am in the hating my crock pot mood, I have the appropriate words to say.

I colored this card with good Old Fashion Crayola Colored Pencil.  I was just wanted to color -- nothing fancy -- just color.  I used Diamond Glaze to give the lid that realistic feel.  Everything, yet again, was from the endless supply of scraps!

I am going to use the card for a challenge over at Little Miss Muffet Challenges (Challenge #69: Pink and Gray).  Also, Sentimental Sunday (Challenge #172: Humerus) has a challenge going on that I think this card is very fitting for.

Thanks for visiting again!

Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust

Hey, look out!!  I am blogging two days in a row :)

Today, I have a card I made using only scraps.  Someday, I need to post pictures from around my craft room.  I am pretty proud of my scrap organization -- just sayin'!
Anyway, back to the card.  I used a digistamp from one of my absolute favorite artist, Melonheadz Illustrations.  The card was designed using a sketch from a challenge over at Catch the Bug Challenge Blog, and it is monochromatic in the color pink, of course.  That is because Twist of Faith Card Challenges is currently sponsoring a monochromatic challenge, as well.
So here is what I have for you today.

Here is the listing of the challenges I am entering using this card:

Sparkles Monthly Challenge - #48 Fairies and/or Butterflies
Catch the Bug Challenge Blog - Stella Says Sketch Challenge #141
Twist of Faith Card Challenges - #54 Monochromatic
ABC Challenges - V: Very Cute
Melonheadz Friends - Paper Piecing Challenge

All for the challenge!

Like I said before, it had been so long since I had posted, I had actually forgotten exactly how to do it.  However, the itch for a challenge had been getting worse and worse, but I couldn't hardly remember the challenge sites I used to frequent.  That didn't keep my finger from itching to put together a card, yet I didn't even want to spend time trying to find a challenge to design for.  So, I threw caution to the wind, and just put something together.  All with supplies sitting on my shelf, with digistamps that had been printed out more than a year ago, and with no specific idea in mind, this is what I came up with.

I am pretty sure I haven't put a card together this quickly in a long time!  The best news is that it does go along with several challenges.  So here is what I am entering it in

Clear It Out Challenge: Theme - thank you Stash - something you have been hanging onto
Penny's Challenge:  #144 Anything Goes
Just Inspirational Challenges:  Inspiration - Flowers
Crafting by Design:  Anything Goes
Perfect Sentiments Challenge:  PSC91 - thank you

A note...I think the image I used in this card is from Bugaboo Stamps, but like I said earlier, I had printed it over a year ago.  Thus, I can't say anything for sure :)

Let's Hear It for the Bows

Here is my newest project, and probably something you will see lots of postings on.  Let's Hear It for the Bows is the business I recently started.  Amelia's hair bow collection was nothing short of AMAZING even when we moved to Florida.  These pictures were taken of Amelia's hair bow collection in December of 2011.

The problem was that as she grew and got new clothes, the hair bow selection stayed the same.  And, we couldn't have that, now could we?  Bows must match our outfits!  Also, to me hair bows serve a purpose, as well.  I like it when Amelia has a hair bow in - the larger the better because I can spot the bow (and her) in a crowd a lot quicker than without anything to set her apart from all the others around her.  Thus, Let's Hear It for the Bows was born!

These are a few of the bows that I have designed.  I love doing this!  Plus, I am loving the interest I am getting from friends, family, and strangers on the bows and things that I make.  All my bows sell for $5-$9 each, and I am always willing to ship them!  Be sure to like my Facebook page, too!

And So It Begins...Again

Wow!  I knew it had been awhile since I had posted on my blog, but I had no idea it had been this long.  Of course, it all makes sense since my posting time used to be during daily nap time, and since we grew out of that with the start of school, everything else took priority.

Along, with the end of nap time, went my daily crafting time!  Not that I don't have old projects to share with you, but the daily crafting time has taken a backseat to volunteering at school, cleaning, school activities, homework, and all the other responsibilities that are motherhood!  The bottom line is...Boy, do I miss that creative time, the crafty challenges, and the smiles I get in return for handing out my goodies to others.

So, my pledge is to get back to crafting, creating, and sharing!!!
